This unique and iconic creature lived during the Early Permian, around 299 to 270 million years ago. In its time it occupied the territories that today make up Europe and North America.
Dimetrodon is often mistaken for a dinosaur, but actually a synapsid (a type of quadrupedal vertebrate). Although it is hard to believe, this peculiar animal is more closely related to humans than to dinosaurs!
This version of the Dimetrodon has a great level of detail and especially highlights its characteristic sail, similar to a fin, that occupies its entire dorsal area. You can also detail the variety of teeth it had and that you can see in the fossils. The model has a pronounced curve in its spine, which gives it a more organic appearance, and also includes a base that gives it greater stability and solidity. His tail is sectioned into 2 parts, so you can curve it and continue the sinuous posture of his spine, maintaining total harmony in relation to the model’s pose.
Please note that this model is designed at a 1:8 scale and maintains the real proportions of Dimetrodon. This means that several of the parts in this model are fragile and delicate.
In the design of this model, among the reference documents consulted is the illustration of the Dimetrodon grandis skeleton developed by Dr. Scott Hartman.
