Inspired by "Bedroom in Arles" by Vincent van Gogh
The title "Bedroom in Arles" (1888-89) can refer to three extremely similar versions of the same painting, made by Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) over the course of two years. The painting depicts the artist’s room in Arles, France, and is renowned for its use of color and skewed perspective. van Gogh wrote that he had intentionally ‘flattened’ space and removed shadows from the furniture to resemble the style of a Japanese print. To match the setting, he chose colors meant to put the viewer in a state of mind akin to slumber, their thoughts at rest.
