The symbols of ancient Egypt in mythology and hieroglyphic
writing had great social, religious, cultural and even recreational
significance: they referred to daily life, death, love, social relations
and power. The term hieroglyph derives from the ancient Greek
and means "engraved sacred signs" with reference to engraving
because these symbols were usually engraved on the stone as
monumental writing, such as on temples, thus assuming a sacred
