Christopher Makos captured the music, fashion and art scene in the late seventies, shooting in New York, Los Angeles, Hamburg, Rome, Milan & Paris. Punk had just made its mark and New Wave was in its infancy at this time, and Makos was there with his camera to witness it all.

Black and white concert shots, portraits and paparazzi-style images shot with flash or hard light reflect the spirit of the time. We see a young Debbie Harry (it’s her leg on the cover), Andy Warhol, Roy Halston Frowick, Patti Smith, Alice Cooper, Tennessee Williams, Man Ray, David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Divine, The Sex Pistols, Iggy Pop, Grace Jones and many other established and emerging artists of the time.

The raw energy of this era is captured wonderfully in this publication. The printing quality and production of the (soft cover) book are rather low-key and simple, the graphic design totally a child of it’s time.
